Palmdale, California, is a charter city located in Los Angeles County. In 1962 it became the first incorporated city in the Antelope Valley. With a population of about 153,000, Palmdale it is the second largest city in the Antelope Valley, the 32nd largest city in California and the 158th largest city in the United States. Palmdale is separated from Los Angeles by the San Gabriel Mountains. It covers 106 square miles and lies in close proximity to the San Andreas Fault, making it prone to earthquakes.
